Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji is the Executive Secretary & National Coordinator of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), a Nigerian Journalist, broadcaster, and a former director with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), natural resource governance expert, political economist and development communications specialist. He joined the Nigeria EITI in 2010 and was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as NEITI head in February 2021. Orji succeeded Waziri Adio who was appointed in February 2016. Before his appointment Orji was NEITI's Director of Communications and Advocacy.[1].[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Orji was born in Arochukwu, Abia State holds a master’s degree and PhD in Political Economy and International Development from University of Abuja, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, the International Law Institute, George Town University, Washington D.C., the World Bank Institute, the African Development Bank Institute and the Lagos Business School.[11][12][13][14]

  • Inside Aso Rock: Orji, as a Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria correspondent from 1993-2002 covering the presidential Villa, Abuja, Nigeria, Orji documents his seven-year journey as a journalist assigned to cover Aso Rock, the Presidential Villa of Nigeria. During this time, he not only provided reports from the Villa itself but also accompanied Nigeria's heads of state on trips across West Africa and around the globe. Through these experiences, he acquired a distinctive viewpoint on Nigerian politics and society.[15]
