The Orlando City Council is the lawmaking body for the City of Orlando, Florida. The council operates within a strong mayor-council system, where the mayor serves as the chief executive of the city.[2] The council is composed of seven nonpartisan members. The mayor is elected by the whole city, while the six other commissioners are elected in single-member districts.[3] Council members serve four-year terms, and votes for council seats may require runoffs if no candidate achieves a majority.[4] The council holds legislative sessions and committee meetings at the Orlando City Hall.
