Oscar Ernesto Rojas Sepulveda (born in 1979 in Kristiansand), also known as Oscar Sepulveda and formerly known as MrOpio, is a multilingual rapper and hiphop-artist. His lyrics are mainly in english, spanish or norwegian, but he likes to combine them "if they sound cool together".[1]
In 1995 he and his brother Salvador Sanchez formed the now legendary hip-hop group Darkside of the Force (DOTF)[2] at the age of 15, and in 1997 they released their self-titled debut album Darkside of the Force[3], which is now widely considered to be a true and defining Norwegian hip-hop classic.[4]
The album, with its obvious qualities, was critically acclaimed, but controversies surrounding a media-created Hip-Hop war[5] and CEO’s overshadowed the music and are now almost part of the album's history itself.[6]
The group, with new member DJ Breackneck, won the Spellemannsprisen 2006 Award[7] (Norwegian Grammy) in the hip-hop category with their second album El Dia De Los Puercos, (EDDLP)[8] which was also nominated at the Alarm Awards 2007.[9] The first single off the album, «Indigenous Flow»[10], earned them a nomination for the 2009 NME Awards[11]
Oscar and Salvador started working on their next album, but it was never completed due to Oscar's behavioral troubles at the time, ultimately landing him a lengthy prison sentence for aggravated assault charges.[12]
After his release he only did a couple of guest appearances for the whole first year or so. But he is now back making new tracks meant for his solo album scheduled to be released in 2021 according to the artist himself[13].
His latest work, for the time being, is a single released in November 2020 fittingly titled «Hjemkomst"[14] meaning "Homecoming".
