Oskar Friberg

Oskar Friberg (16 August 1919 – 10 May 2019) was the oldest resident of the Estonian island of Vormsi.[1] He was an ethnic Swede.
Friberg served in the Estonian Armed Forces during the 1940 occupation and was automatically considered a member of the Soviet Armed Forces, where he fought in Courland. In 1941, he was wounded, returning home in 1946. He then built boats for a couple of years and tried to fish, but to no avail. After that, Friberg lived in Norrby.[2]
In 2014, he was congratulated on his 95th birthday.[3] Friberg died in May 2019 at the age of 99.[4]
