Sami Oskari Katajisto (born February 21, 1966 in Seinäjoki) is a Finnish actor and theatre director.
After having studied theatrical arts at the Theatre Academy he graduated in 1990. Katajisto commenced his career at the Helsinki City Theatre in 1991 with a sequence of noted roles including major parts in Finnish as well as international drama plays, comedies and musicals. His roles include Erik in the musical Oopperan kummitus (The Phantom of the Opera) and Bernardo in West Side Story. His long-term contract with the City Theatre was discharged in 2013. Since then Katajisto has played roles in several theatres as a freelance artist. He has also been active in Finnish summer theatres as both an actor and a director.[1]
Although predominantly a stage actor, Katajisto has appeared on multiple Finnish television series, usually playing supporting roles such as Erik Löwenstierna in the epic drama series Hovimäki which covers an extensive time span ranging from the late 18th century till the early 20th century. Katajisto has also portrayed minor parts in Finnish feature films including the role of a theatre director in the 2016 movie Nuotin vierestä, directed by Lauri Nurkse.[2]
