Ospinsight

OSPInsight is a GIS-based fiber optic network management software application designed to help network operators plan, design, and manage fiber optic networks. [1]. The company provides fiber network management solutions through both a desktop application and a cloud-based application. Operators have access to operations tools, as well as network analysis reports that highlight various fiber network metrics, including utilization, cable span capacity, route lengths, and general network statistics.
Background[edit]
OSPInsight was founded by the Salt Lake-based company Advance Fiber Optics, Inc. (AFO) in 1994 [2]. AFO aimed to bring aerospace fiber optic engineering best practices to the telecommunications sector. OSPInsight was created to streamline the recordkeeping process associated with fiber optic network development.
Acquisition by IQGeo[edit]
OSPInsight was acquired by the Cambridge-based company IQGeo in December 2020. IQGeo purchased OSPInsight for $8.75m consisting of a mix of cash and shares [3]. IQGeo also raised $6.5m [4]. The acquisition expanded IQGeo’s capabilities to cover tier 3 and tier 4 fiber network deployments, in addition to larger tier 1 and tier 2 enterprise deployments.
In September 2021, IQGeo was covered in the IDC Innovators: Location and Geospatial Intelligence report featuring five companies with intelligent geospatial solutions [5].
