Oswald Laurence (??? - 2007)[1] was an actor who is famous for being the voice of "Mind the gap" on the London Underground.[1]

Mind The Gap
In the late 1950s Oswald Laurence became the voice of London Underground’s "Mind the Gap" message.[4] His voice recording was used on the Northern Line for over 40 years before it was removed when the system was digitised.[1]
The last Northern Line station to remove Oswald Laurence’s voice was Embankment station.[1] After a plea from Laurence’s widow, Laurence’s voice was digitised and is used on the Northbound platform at Embankment station.[1]
Personal Life
In 1992 while working as a tour guide Oswald Laurence met Dr Margaret McCollum on a tour to Morocco.[1] They were married in 2003 until his death in 2007.[1][5]
Death
Oswald Laurence died in North London in 2007.[1]
