Outfit (retailer)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Outfit is a UK company that is part of the Arcadia Group and began operating in the 1990s. It sells a range of clothing, footwear, and accessories for both men and women.

The company began in the 1990s when Sears plc identified a gap in the market. The 1990s saw significant growth in out-of-town retail parks, which were becoming a popular alternative to town centre shopping. Sears recognised this as an opportunity to consolidate their fashion brands under one roof.

The first Outfit store opened in 1995 at Riverside Retail Park in Nottingham. The Nottingham store's success led to the opening of more stores.

In 1999, Outfit became part of Arcadia Group Ltd and continues to grow.

About Outfit

Outfit currently operates 76 stores in the UK. Each store offers a range of well-known brands, including Arcadia's own high street stores: Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topman, Topshop, and Wallis. Outfit also features concessions from brands including, formerly Arcadia-owned Warehouse, as well as Oasis, Quiz, Little Mistress, Jack & Jones, and Fuse.

Charity

Outfit's charity of the year in 2010 was the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. On 6 April, new keyrings featuring Zippy, Bungle, and George were sold in-store for a suggested donation of £2. Outfit staff and customers participated in various fundraising activities.

Outfit's 2011 charity was the Alzheimer's Society. Customers could purchase jewelled keyrings in various colours for a suggested donation of £2.

  • Trolley tokens and car air fresheners
  • Donations through collection tubs at check-out points

Retail brands

Most Outfit stores include Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, and Wallis departments. A majority of stores also offer Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Oasis, and Evans. (Warehouse is no longer owned by Arcadia, but continues as a department in Outfit under arrangement with the current owners, Aurora Fashions). Concession brand Fuse is available in approximately 42 stores, each with a different selection of brands.

Young fashion is a key growth area for Outfit, with Topshop playing a significant role.
