Ovais Ahmed Tanweer (Urdu: اویس احمد تنویر‎ ; born 18 August 1977), known professionally as Ovais Mangalwala, is Pakistani television host, theatre actor, and Television producer.[2] He is best known for hosting the satirical Express News program "Kaha Sunaa Maaf" from 2012 to 2017 and presenting breakfast show Subah Say Agay on Hum News. Mangalwala currently hosts breakfast news show Subh Savaray Pakistan for 92 News HD (TV Channel)92 News.

Early life[edit]

Ovais was born and raised in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan in a Cutchi Memon family to Tanveer Hussain and Shaukat Ara Tanveer. He is married to Hina Ovais and has two sons and one daughter.[3] He attended University of Karachi to complete Masters in Computer Science degree, he also did Master of Business Administration from Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology. Later he completed a diploma in theatre studies from National Academy of Performing Arts located in Karachi.[4][5]

Career[edit]

Ovais started his career with Dawn News in 2007 as Associate Producer. He produced and hosted documentaries, The State of Sharia, Plan B and Parho gaay Likho Gaay.[6] He joined Express News in 2011 and hosted and directed "Kaha Sunaa Maaf", "Karachi Mera Hai" and produced several documentaries including "Dekh Magar Pyar Se" and award winning documentary "Cheeni Kum" .[7] Mangalwala joined Hum News in 2017 as a Host and Senior Producer of Hum News morning show Subah Say Agay.[8] He also presented special shows and transmissions for Hum TV.[9] Ovais is currently working for 92 News HD as Executive Producer and Program Host for morning show "Subh Savaray Pakistan".[10] Ovais has spent 16 years in journalism and recognized by Excellence in Journalism Award in 2016.[11]
