Oxdes is an online marketplace and classified advertising company based in Kenya. Oxdes has listings in over 150 countries in the world in categories such as mobile phones, household goods, cars, real estate, jobs, services and education. It was founded by Kobia and Christine in 2018. Oxdes is a free classifieds and online marketplace that helps users to sell, buy, rent, or discover anything in over 150 countries globally. Community members can come to the oxdes site to find an apartment to live in, sell their old car, bike, music system, laptop or furniture, promote their small business, find a tuition class or get a break as a model or actor, join a salsa class, get an audience for a local event, buy any item that they might want or have to offer and make new friends while doing all of the above.[1]

History

As of January 2021, it held over 15000 ads, attracting over 30,000 sellers and 12,000 original users per month, who look for bargains in cars,[2] household goods, mobile phones,[3] cosmetics, toys, pets, livestock, electronics,[1] services, and most recently, to look for jobs by searching through job vacancies.[4][5][6] From the report by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), oxdes is one of the main online retailers of the country — serving a mass-market clientele.[7] As of March 8, 2021, oxdes is ranked as the 87th overall most visited website in Kenya by Alexa[8] and as the 8th top site in Kenya for all categories by SimilarWeb.[9]

Oxdes was founded in 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya by Taratisio Kobia, who is the company's CEO. In autumn 2019 Oxdes started another blog project known as vhomebnb,[10] providing breaking news in Kenya today, top Kenyan news and hot news headlines around the world.
