Oxea
OXEA is an international chemical company with headquarters in Monheim am Rhein. It was formed in March 2007 by the private investor Advent International from parts of Celanese Chemicals and European Oxo. European Oxo was a joint venture between Celanese and Degussa. In December 2013 Oxea was acquired by Oman Oil Company (OOC). [1]
In January 2020, Oxea joined 8 other companies to create an integrated energy company which will trade under the brand name OQ .[2][3]
Products
Oxea manufactures oxo intermediates and derivatives. These are a wide range of substances such as alcohols (including polyols), aldehydes, carboxylic acids, speciality esters and related substances such as amines.[4]
All these substances are required as intermediate products in the manufacture of coatings, pharmaceuticals, lubricants, aromas, fragrances, paints and plastics.
Oxea's hydroformylation technology is based on the research work of Otto Roelen.
Locations
Oxea's main plant is in Oberhausen (Ruhrchemie plant); further plants are located in Marl (Germany), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Nanjing (China), and Bay City and Bishop (USA). Oxea employs around 1,400 people worldwide (2019).[5]
