Playing career[edit]
Fenton was drafted by the San Jose Sharks, 162nd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft after his freshman season with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the Hockey East. Upon completion of his collegiate career and after two seasons within the Sharks affiliates, Fenton initially joined the DEG Metro Stars of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) to start the 2010–11 season on April 14, 2010.[1] After posting 4 points in 19 games with the Stars, Fenton was released and opted to return to the AHL with the Rochester Americans on November 15, 2010.[2]
At the conclusion of the season, Fenton opted to pursue his career in Germany again, signing with SC Bietigheim-Bissingen of the German second division. In the 2012–13 season, Fenton led the Steelers to the Championship with a team high 28 goals. Fenton agreed to remain in the DEL2 upon its inception, returning with Heilbronner Falken and later EV Landshut. In the 2014–15 season, Fenton enjoyed a career high year in leading Landshut with 64 points in 51 games.
Despite signing a one-year extension with EV Landshut, Fenton was released from his commitment in order to return to North America on a one-year contract with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL on July 29, 2015.[3] Although Fenton performed to have a strong training camp, he was released by the Komets in consideration for their final roster to begin the 2015-16 season on October 13, 2015.[4]
