PC/OS is a free Linux distribution made by PC/OpenSystems LLC.
PC/OS was initially released in 2006 based on Gentoo. In 2012, it moved to an Ubuntu base.
Currently, PC/OS is offered in two flavors. PC/OS OpenDesktop[1] is a general purpose OS for use with 64-bit desktops and laptops, while PC/OS OpenServer[2] is geared towards use by small-to-medium-sized businesses. PC/OS OpenDesktop and OpenServer are extended support releases and are supported longer than the base Ubuntu release.[citation needed]
