PCOM South Georgia.[1] is a private, not-for-profit additional location[2] of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), a fully-accredited institution of higher education. It was founded in 2019 for the purpose of addressing a critical need for physicians in the Southwest Georgia region.

The campus building is 75,000 square feet and is shaped like an asymmetric K with wings of the building extending from a central lobby[3]. The building includes classrooms, an anatomy lab, a simulation center, study areas, an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine lab, a dining area and flex spaces. PCOM South Georgia is located at 2050 Tallokas Road in Moultrie, Georgia[4].

History

PCOM received initial approval from the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) to move forward with its Moultrie, Georgia location in December 2017[5].

Construction of the 75,000-square-foot facility began in 2018 and was completed in the summer of 2019. PCOM South Georgia welcomed its inaugural class of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) students in August of 2019[6]. In the Fall of 2020, PCOM South Georgia launched its MS in Biomedical Sciences program.

On July 25, 2022, PCOM South Georgia held its first commencement ceremony for eight students who earned their Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences degree[7]. The following year, on May 30, 2023, the inaugural class of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) graduated[8][9]. One hundred percent of PCOM South Georgia DO students in the inaugural class who participated in the National Resident Matching Program matched[10], with 25 percent matched in residency programs within the State of Georgia.
