PDQ ('People Dedicated to Quality', or 'Pretty Darn Quick) is a fast casual restaurant chain and franchise of chicken restaurants based in Tampa, Florida. To date, the chain consists of over 76 franchise restaurants and stores in 5 different U.S. states. [3]

History[edit]

In 2009, Nick Reader, who was the CFO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quit his position as CFO to seek for something entrepreneurial, according to Nick, he partnered up with Bob Basham, the co-founder of Outback Steakhouse franchise in both Florida and Georgia who was part of Bloomin' Brands at the time[4]. Both Bob and Nick were in search of a restaurant that was fast and served fresh food. During searching for ideas, they both found a restaurant located in Statesville, North Carolina called 'Tenders', both Bob and Nick later made a deal with the restaurant to share recipes to create their own chain. And in 2011, they opened the first PDQ located in Tampa, Florida.[5] [6]

Products[edit]

PDQ mainly serves chicken products, including fried chicken, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, and chicken salads, as well as hand-spun Milkshakes. PDQ also has multiple signature sauces, including Ranch, Buffalo Bleu, Creamy Garlic, Honey BBQ, Sweet Sriracha, Honey Mustard, and PDQ sauce, which is their own original recipe. [7]

Philanthropy[edit]

PDQ locations mostly participate in many community related fundraising events, raising over $6 million via these events[8], as well as donating to charities. In 2021, PDQ donated $55,000 to Best Buddies and 4Roots[9], and in 2020, PDQ donated $65,000 for Boys and Girls Clubs[10].
