PHOTOTAXIS (Band)
Phototaxis (hebrew פוטוטקסיס) is an electro soul band from Tel Aviv. Their current record "Neverlander" was releases in 2018 on the german label Backseat.[1]
History[edit]
Frontwoman Yael Feldinger, singer, lyricist and composer founded the band in 2009 together with Itai Tsuk, composer, producer, guitar & key player. The band around them are Alex Rotman on the Drums, Nir Blum on the bass, Yael Geva on the trompet and Neta Maimon on the Cello.
Phototaxis released their debut in 2010 and has followed up with three Albums and one EP since.
In 2015 while on tour promoting the album «Marinade» they met current manager Marie-Hélène Froidevaux, Owner of Interstellar Music GmbH[2], a publishing & sync licensing agency based in Switzerland. Froidevaux helped Phototaxis with show booking and eventually took on the management.
The current album "Neverlander" was created within the next two years in collaboration with Beat Jegen, Partner & A&R at Interstellar Music. Designs and artwork were made by null.kelvin, a Swiss based artist. Video artwork was made by Kobie Flashman.
The german label Backseat signed a Europe Deal with the Band for "Neverlander".
In February 2018 the Duo goes on a european Tour to promote the new Album "Neverlander".[3]
Influences[edit]
Phototaxis plays Synth Pop / Dark Folk and is heavily influenced by bands like Sampha, Radio Head, Fever Ray, Blonde Red Head, Rhye and Jose Gonzales.
