PONY Magazine

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

PONY (also PONY Magazine) is a newstrade and subscription magazine published in the United Kingdom by DJ Murphy.

History[edit]

The magazine was founded in 1949 by David J. Murphy.[1]

Mascots[edit]

PONY Magazine has two "mascots" in the form of two Connemara ponies, Duggie and Solomon. The magazine also features a cartoon pony named Charlie. Until the summer of 2015, PONY also featured a Miniature Shetland Pony called Colonel.

Duggie

Duggie is a grey Connemara gelding, measuring 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm). Articles are frequently written from his point of view, so as to give the readers a first-pony view on matters. He typically speaks in an informal dialect, using certain slang words and emulating an accent. He typically portrays himself as hardy on the outside, but a "real softie" deep down.

Solomon

Solomon is a bay Connemara gelding. He is frequently shown as being rather "wussy" by his apparent friend Duggie.

The two ponies live together, not far from PONY's office. Despite what they say about each other, they are good friends.

Colonel

Until he died in 2015, Colonel, a blue roan Shetland pony, with a "wise-guy" personality, was the oldest of PONY Magazine's mascots. He was a source of wisdom to the two younger ponies, and was much-loved by PONY readers.

Charlie

Charlie is a bay, cartoon pony who stands on two legs and features throughout PONY's pages.
