The Paa Grant Roundabout is a major traffic circle in Takoradi, the principal city of the Sekondi–Takoradi metropolitan area in Ghana's Western Region. Named in honour of George Alfred “Paa” Grant (1878–1956), a prominent merchant and one of the founders of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), the roundabout forms a key junction connecting several arterial roads that serve the port, commercial districts, hospitals, and industrial areas of the metropolis.[1]

The roundabout sits within the Takoradi urban area and links routes that provide access to the Takoradi Harbour, the central market area, and nearby institutions including regional offices and hospitals. Its central island historically features a statue and a plinth bearing the name “Paa Grant Roundabout,” making it both a traffic node and a local landmark.[2]
Transport function and significance
As a convergence point for several busy roads, Paa Grant Roundabout plays an important role in intra-city movement and in connecting traffic to the port and industrial corridors that support Takoradi's economy. During peak hours, the roundabout is often congested, and it has been the focus of traffic-management and road-improvement discussions by local authorities.
Roadworks and upgrade projects
The roundabout has been included in several road-improvement and expansion initiatives. In 2022, the Ministry of Roads and Highways listed construction of an interchange at the Paa Grant Roundabout as part of a broader Sekondi–Takoradi road project that included widening and rehabilitation of selected roads. Later works and local contractor activity have included pavement repairs, roundabout reconstruction, and temporary closures for construction. Local media and government releases have reported staged works and traffic diversions to accommodate these upgrades.[3]
