Paarden Eiland is an industrial area in Bloubergstrand, northeast of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa, on land reclaimed from the sea. The confluence of the Liesbeek River and Swart rivers ends here in Table Bay.
The origin of the name is not clear. This may indicate the earlier presence of zebras, quaggas or wild horses. It is also speculated that low tide horses have been chased on the island in recent days to graze there.[1]
