Paddy Toland
Paddy Toland is a former Irish kickboxer and kickboxing coach. A former three-time world amateur kickboxing champion, he reportedly retired from the sport in 2013.[1]
From Killea in County Donegal, Toland regularly trained in Derry.[2] As it was difficult to find sparring partners in Derry and Donegal, he travelled weekly to Waterford.[citation needed] Toland, who was a property developer,[2][3] subsequently opened his own gym.[4] An interim member of the kickboxing "board of control" in Northern Ireland,[5] as of 2009 he was connected to the Irish chapter of the ISKA governing body.[6]
By 2011, he was coaching the then middleweight and light-middleweight kickboxing champion, Tommy McCafferty.[7] He also helped to coach the former ISKA European ladies super flyweight champion, Natalie McCarron,[8] and promoted fights by ISKA world heavyweight champion, Daniel Quigley.[9] In March 2012, Toland was reportedly "voted World Kickboxing Promoter of the Year" by the ISKA.[10] He closed his gym in 2013.[1]
