Carnatic Musician[edit]

Palghat Ramprasad is a student of his father and violinist, Palghat T. R. Rajaram, and has been giving concerts since 1988. Ramprasad, an All In Radio (AIR) A-grade artist has performed in concert tours across India, USA, Europe and Australia. He has served as secretary and later president of Youth Association of Classical Music.[8][9] He currently runs and teaches at the Palghat Mani Iyer School of Music.

Ramprasad uses Delaunay triangulation, an optimisation technique used in mathematics and statistics, for planning musical concert numbers[10] and compiling song lists.[11]

Education[edit]

Ramprasad is also a development economist who applies quantitative techniques to socio-economic issues – public health, gender, poverty and economic growth in developing countries. He has consulted for the Government of Tamil Nadu and NGOs on projects related to Health, Gender, poverty and sanitation.

Ramprasad graduated with Doctorate in Economics from the University of Georgia. He was also a visiting post-doctoral fellow from Harvard University (School of Public Health).[12][13]
