Palm Institute is a private, non-profit university located in Accra, Ghana.

Palm's mission is to produce well educated and ethical leaders for corporate, national, and continental creativity, innovation, service, and sustainability. [1]

In May 2020, Palm Institute received accreditation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (formerly National Accreditation Board (Ghana)) as a nationally recognised degree-granting institution. [2] Palm Institute is registered at the Registrar General’s Department [citation needed], and is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Ghana. [3] Palm Institute is the second university in Ghana and Africa to adopt an Honour System. [4] [5] [6]

Palm Institute offers four (4) year Bachelor of Science degree programs in Business Administration, Business Information Technology, and Computer Science. [7] [2]

Palm Institute has an interactive liberal arts core curriculum. Palm encourages its students to question assumptions, theories, models, and concepts presented in lecture halls and in life in general. [8]

History

In 2005, after completing degrees in the US at Warner Pacific University and Regent University, Peter Carlos Okantey returned to his native Ghana to evaluate and study the feasibility of establishing a four-year liberal arts university. Peter became certain that higher education was the “hope for Ghana and Africa”. He realised he could sacrifice and invest towards the creation of higher educational opportunities in Ghana to bring an enhanced future to many, especially the less privileged. [9]

Organisation & Governance

Palm Institute is overseen by a University Council. [10] Palm Institute receives funding from the Naa Amerley Palm Education (NAPE) Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit in the United States, [11] and from the David Okai Okantey Foundation in Ghana. [12]
