Palma
Palma is a suburb of the town of Quatre Bornes located in the Plaines Willems District,Mauritius. The suburb was annexed by to the town of Quatre Bornes in 1967 and is administered by the Municipal Council of Quatre Bornes,
Politics[edit]
Palma is divded into two main constituencies during the general elections held every 5 years. Part are classified as the No 18 constituency known as Belle Rose/Quatre Bornes and the No 14 Savanne/Black River constituency.

Palma has 1 primary education school, 2 secondary education colleges and 1 tertiary university.
Palma Government School
Palma Government School is a state funded pre-primary and primary school. The school generally have students coming from Palma, Bassin, Beau Songes and Bambous. Sir Anerood Jugnauth who lived in Palma during his childhood attend Palma Government School.
Palma State Secondary School
Palma SSS is a state funded secondary school. The state college is a not a mix institution and is accessible to boys only. The college have both mainstream and pre-vocational teaching. The school also features a football pitch, a basketball pitch, two computer labs and three science laboratories. The college has won a Slam competition in 2014.
College Sainte Marie
College Stainte Marie is a paid secondary school. The college is a mix institution and have students coming from all over the island. The college is a Catholic institution but is neutral with regards to admission and teaching. The two main medium are teachings are French and English. The college made its first laureat in 2014.
Patheon-Assas
Patheon-Assas or Sorbonne-Assas International Law School is a pretigious university from France. It started its operation since 2015 and delivers law degrees both on Bachelor and Masters levels. Patheon-Assas has several well-known alumnus and is regarded as a distinguished university.

The village features several businesses such as flower shops, bakeries, restaurants, snacks, community centre, community health centres.
Places of worship[edit]
The suburb has one Roman Catholic Church called St Brigitte. There are also Hindu temples, Tamil Kovils, Telugu Mandirams and some kalimayes. The suburb also have several Assemblies of God churches.
Crime Rates[edit]
The suburb is a rather peaceful one with low crime rates. However, in 2002 a husband killed his wife with 33 stabs.[1] Drugs is another problem in the region where the transactions and number of arrests are fairly high.[2]
Notable People[edit]
Sir Anerood Jugnauth GCSK KCMG QC MP PC is a politician and barrister who has served as both President and Prime Minister of Mauritius. He was born at Palma and he undertook his primary education at Palma Government School during his childhood.
Ashok Jugnauth is a Mauritian politician and former Member of Parliament. He was born at Palma and is the younger half-brother of Sir Aneerood Jugnauth. He practiced as a barrister in Mauritius.
Nitish and Ram Joganah are two popular singers born at Palma and part of the Grup Latanier. Nitish nominated himself for the general elections but was not successful.
Marco Dorza, an infamous football player of Mauritius. He was born and stil resides at Palma. He represented Mauritius for the JIOI 2019 held in the island. He is member of the AS Port Louis Football Club 2000.
Cedric Tuyau LL.M is a young Mauritian writer and scholar. He was born at Palma and attended both the Palma Government School and Palma State Secondary School. He is the author of the True Crime Stories of Mauritius book series.
