Panchayat Cricket Ground
Panchayat Cricket Ground or (PCG) is a cricket ground in Botingoo, Sopore, Baramulla District in the Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ground is small but various tournaments are organised throughout the year.[citation needed] It is located in the lush green village of Botingoo near Eidgah Botingoo. All the cricket teams of surrounding areas play here throughout the year.
History
The PCG was actually an apple orchard. Realising that they had no ground to play, the local youth of the area cleared the orchard by cutting down the trees in one night in the 1990s. The previous cricket tournament was a T-10 knockout in which 16 teams from the surrounding area participated. The final was played between two local teams from Botingoo. In the presence of a large number of spectators, the exciting final between MARS 11 & BOTINGOO 11, with BOTINGOO 11 holding their nerve, won the final by 5 runs. Shafat Arif of BTG 11 was declared Man of the Match, while Nisar Ahmad of MARS 11 was declared Man of the Tournament.
