Gadadhara Pandit Dasa (born May 30, 1972), is an American former monk and an international keynote speaker who speaks on workplace culture, mindful leadership, mindfulness and work-life balance.[1][2]
Early life and education
Pandit Dasa was born in Kanpur in 1972. In 1980, at the age of seven, his parents relocated to the United States. Their life in the U.S. began in Los Angeles. Since his parents came to the U.S. with very little money and resources, they began selling gift items on Venice Beach in Los Angeles. Within eight years, they were able to establish a multi-million dollar jewelry business.[3] During the third year of California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles, at the age of 21, their jewelry business caught fire and they ended up losing everything.
Career
In 1999, Pandit went to Mumbai, India to live in a monastery to take a deep dive into mindfulness and meditation. After six months in India, he moved into a monastery in New York City where he spent the next 15 years of his life as a monk.[1]
During his time as a monk, he began to lecture extensively on college campuses in the New York City area and around the U.S. and was invited to speak at a TEDx conference at Columbia University.[4]
In 2014, he left monastic life and began a career as a keynote speaker on mindful leadership, workplace culture, mindfulness and work-life balance. He has spoken at hundreds of organizations and conferences including many Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies.[5]
He has been featured in Forbes,[1] Entrepreneur,[2] Yahoo News, Business Insider,[6] Tech Times,[7] NPR, and The New York Times.[8]
