Pandurang Salunkhe
Pandurang Salunkhe was an Indian soldier of the Maratha Light Infantry regiment involved in Operation Cactus-Lilly in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The combat took place at Hussaiwala, at the India–Pakistan border. Pakistani forces were surprised and defeated by the Maratha LI at this point. Sepoy Pandurang Salunkhe was reported to have shown extraordinary gallantry and sacrifice during the combat.[1] Posthumously he was honored with the Maha Vir Chakra.[2][3][4][5]
