Panjrapole Sanstha
Introduction
The panjrapol sanstha is located in Ahmadabad near Ambawadi, Polytechnic Road. It works for animal welfare and is run by ‘Jivdaya Charitable Trust’. This Non-Government Organization works for the rehabilitation and care of disowned and domestic animals and birds with the help of experienced doctors and a dedicated team. It even runs a rehabilitation centre for all Animals, Mammals and Birds. The NGO mainly focuses on helping animals who are suffering and providing them with the best possible care, enabling them to live healthy lives. The team is connected via road to help animals and birds. It also offers adoption services to animal lovers. The sanstha serves all the animals, mammals and birds living there very well. This sanstha has never harmed any of the animals, mammals, or birds living there during their care or treatment.[1]
History
‘Jivdaya Charitable Trust’ was started in August 2007 by Gira ben Shah with her father, Hasmukh Patel, along with two more trustees and four employees. It is registered under the Bombay Charity Act with registration No.E.18173/Ahmedabad and is recognized by ‘The Animal Welfare Board of India’. This NGO is dedicated to working for the welfare of animals and birds in the city of Ahmedabad. There are also several similar sanstha working in different cities for many years.[2]
Save Bird Campaign
‘Save Bird Campaign’ is an initiative taken by the Government of Gujarat to save injured birds during the festival of Uttrayan (Makar Sankranti), which is held from 11th Jan to 18th Jan. According to the Forest Official’s report of 2015, in Ahmedabad, 602 birds were injured during the festival of Uttrayan. Recognizing the loss to Animal Welfare, H.R. Prabuddha – Deputy Conservator of Forest – distributed pamphlets to promote the bird saving campaign. Around 22 Non-government Organizations, 65 response centers and 102 doctors have taken part in this initiative. Forest department officials have legally banned Chinese thread and synthetic threads.[3]
Humans, engrossed in the fun and enjoyment of the Uttrayan festival, often forget the other side of Nature and Animals. They harm creatures of the sky at the cost of their own happiness and enjoyment. They enjoy the festival with kites, even as birds are injured. Suddenly, amidst all the enjoyment, the sky becomes a battlefield between kites and innocent birds struggling to escape. They take the place of birds and, in return, inflict pain upon them. They not only cut kites with manja (thread made of glass used for flying kites) but also cut the wings of those made to fly high in the sky. This is the reason for the increasing number of bird deaths and injuries due to manja. Day by day, humans are becoming selfish, which will soon result in the end of humanity.
Before humanity is lost in humans, let us revive the motto of ‘Being Together’ and save those wings. The aim of this Campaign is not only saving birds but also generating a feeling of helping others. This Campaign has been able to save 12231 (one lakh twenty two thousand two hundred and thirty one) birds in the last 10 years. The success rate of this Campaign is 95%. In this Campaign, Jivdaya Charitable trust is actively participating and promoting it.[4]
Apart from Uttrayan, the NGO also received around 330 birds suffering from trauma and illness in October 2018 due to heavy rainfall, and the reason for their illness was malnourishment. Due to increasing urbanization, birds are unable to survive in this poisonous environment. Almost 80% of the total number of birds were saved by this NGO and given proper treatment. But this sanstha is truly doing a great job serving these animals, mammals and birds in the best way. They have played a huge part in these types of initiatives and other various different types of programmes to cure injured animals and provide them with proper care.
Roti And Milk
Roti and Milk is an initiative taken by the Jivdaya Trust, held on 5th Nov, to provide street dogs with food like roti and milk. Through this step, this NGO is planning for ‘Rabies free Ahmedabad’ by feeding the dogs and vaccinating them as part of the Animal Care on Wheels community outreach program. They fed 3000 dogs and vaccinated 400 dogs. The main objective of this initiative is encouraging people to assist with the feeding and vaccination of street dogs. This event promotes compassion, responsibility and safe living with street dogs.
‘The Animal Mobile Clinics’'’ have been started by this NGO with the motive of treating animals suffering from parasitic diseases that are zoonotic, meaning the disease can also be transmitted to humans by animals. As dogs start to recover, they are vaccinated against rabies before their treatment is completed. This indirectly helps the public avoid the threat of rabies.[5]
For this specific project, teams were formed and then divided into three sub-teams for the treatment of 4332 unowned dogs in July, August and September 2017.[globalgiving.org/donate/35540/jivdaya-charitable-trust/reports/?page=26]

It also aims to promote Vegetarianism and spread awareness about animal welfare and proper behavior towards Animals. They aim to provide good care so that animals do not feel homeless.
The NGO also focuses on raising awareness about animal welfare among the next generation, which is why it involves youth in the organization.
