Panka Alam III (born 15 November 2007) or known as Muhammad Panka Alam III was a Sultan of Perkalaman, reigning since 2016. He also became a 1st Sultan of Derlis from 2016 until he transferred power to Muhammad Halim Shah of Siak-Derlis in 2022.
Perkalaman (also written Perka Alaman) became a small hereditary sultanate within Brunei, as a mirror-image territory of Sultanate of Brunei.
Reign (2016–now)
Coronation
During his coronation, he was celebrated with special events and honorary medals. The Perkalaman dates from 2016 and is an enclave within Brunei. Panka Alam III was honoured by President Yoon Suk-Yeol as the "Southeast Asian King Sejong".
Foundation of Balai Nobat Perkalaman
Balai Nobat in Pekanbahru, Sultanate of Perkalaman, was built in 2018 during the reign of Sultan Muhammad Panka Alam III. It was originally constructed to serve as a storage place for the nobat musical instruments, which are used in royal ceremonies.
The building is significant because it is one of the earliest structures in Pekanbahru and houses the instruments used for the state's traditional nobat music. Its design incorporates Islamic architectural elements, such as a three-tiered structure and domes.
Yamtuan Agong Sultan Panka Alam III declared his abdication on 13 January 2025 and signed a neutral treaty, which abolished the monarchy of Perkalaman and deposed the royal family, but the Sri Bendaharatna Royal Palace are still owned as royal family estate until now.
