Pankaj Sanghvi is an Indian politician serving in the Indian National Congress.

Personal life

Pankaj Sanghvi has completed B. Com. from Devi Ahilya University, a State University in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.[citation needed]

Political career

Sanghvi was active in student politics in Indore district. He started his political career by contesting a local corporation election in 1983. He was pitted against the BJP stalwart, Sumitra Mahajan in the 1998 Indian general election for the Indore seat, but lost by a slender margin of nearly 49,000 votes.[1]

In 2009, he was the Congress party's candidate for the position of the Mayor in the local corporation elections, against Krishna Murari Moghe of the BJP, having roped in actor Salman Khan for a roadshow as well.[2][3][4] But he lost the elections by a margin of 4,000 votes.[5] He was again in the arena in the Madhya Pradesh State Elections in 2013 from Indore-5 seat. He lost to Mahendra Hardia of the BJP by a margin of 15,000 votes.[6]

He again stood from Indore during the Indian general election, 2019 against Shankar Lalwani of the BJP from the Indore Lok Sabha seat.[7] However, he lost by a massive margin of 5,50,000 votes.[8]
