Pantelije "Panta" Grujić (Smederevo, Principality of Serbia, 20 July 1866 - Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia, 14 April 1958) was a Serbian army divisional general.[1][2]

Biography

Born in Smederevo[3] in 1866. Pantelije Grujić graduated from the Military Academy in 1890, making the military his life’s career. He first participated in the Balkan Wars where he served as Lieutenant Colonel of the IX infantry regiment Kralj Nikola I in the Danube division then under the command of Miloš Božanović, the Great War and the Second World War when he was captured with Chief of Staff Pantelija Kurišić and sent to a German prisoner-of-war camp.[4]

During the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki front, as part of the 1st Army, as an infantry colonel Panta Grujić commanded the Morava Division of the 1st Army. At the time (5 August 1917) he was in correspondence with his nephew Commander (Voivode) Kosta Vojinović, the most important leader in occupied Serbia.[5] On 3 November 1918 he was promoted to Divisional General.[3]

  • 28 February 1923 - 26 January 1927: Inspector of Infantry[2][6]

Orders and decorations

He was a recipient of the Order of Karađorđe's Star with swords of the third degree - Knight medal.
