Paola Lavini (born 12 November 1979) is an Italian actress and singer.

Biography

After studying at the Accademia d'arte drammatica della Calabria, Paola Lavini began her career as a lead actress in numerous musical theatre productions. She has worked under the direction of prominent figures such as Saverio Marconi, Massimo Romeo Piparo, Gigi Proietti, Enzo Iacchetti, and Michele Guardì; the latter directed her in I promessi sposi staged at the San Siro Stadium in Milan.[1]

In cinema, she has collaborated with acclaimed directors including Francesco Munzi in Black Souls (Anime nere), Alice Rohrwacher in Corpo Celeste, Marco Pontecorvo in Partly Cloudy with Sunny Spells, Marco Tullio Giordana in Wild Blood (Sanguepazzo), Pupi Avati, Marco Bellocchio, and Michael Radford.

She has appeared in several Italian comedies alongside actors such as Vincenzo Salemme and Maurizio Casagrande, and featured in Federico Moccia's Sorry If I Love You. Her television credits include the international series Rome, as well as Italian productions like Boris, Gente di mare, Thou Shalt Not Kill (Non uccidere), and Niccolò Ammaniti's The Miracle.[2]

In 2018, she won the award for Best Italian Actress at the Ferrara Film Festival for her role in the docufilm Terra bruciata! Il laboratorio italiano della ferocia nazista.[3]

In 2020, she appeared in Giorgio Diritti's Hidden Away (Volevo nascondermi), based on the life of painter Antonio Ligabue. The film premiered at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival, where Lavini was later nominated for a Italian Golden Globe (Globo d'oro) for Best Actress for her portrayal of Pina.[4] On July 12, 2020, she was among the artists who opened the 18th edition of the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest with the premiere of the film Il cinema non si ferma (Cinema Doesn't Stop), directed by Marco Serafini. The project was notable for being filmed remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.[5] In 2022, she starred alongside Claudia Cardinale in the Tunisian film The Island of Forgiveness (L'île du Pardon), directed by Ridha Behi.
