Paolo Tasca is an Italian-born economist and academic.[1][2] He is currently a professor at the University College London, which was also named one of the top global universities for blockchain in 2022.[3] He is also the founder and director of the European nonprofit organisation, the DLT Science Foundation.[4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Tasca was born in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.[6] He earned his M.A from the University of Padua and his M.Sc. from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.[7] In addition, he pursued his PhD studies at both the Ca' Foscari University and ETH Zurich.[7]

Career[edit]

Tasca is a professor at the University College London.[8][9] He is also the founder and incumbent executive director of the Centre for Blockchain Technology at University College London.[10][11] Previously, he worked as a senior research economist at Deutsche Bundesbank.[7]

As an advisor, Tasca has worked with multiple international organizations, including the EU Parliament.[7]

Tasca is the author of several books, including The FinTech Book, Banking Beyond Banks and Money,[12] Enabling the Internet of Value, and Digital Asset Pricing, Allocation and Regulation. He has also worked as an editor of the Journal of Risk Finance and the Journal of Digital Banking,[13][14] and is an editor for the journal, Frontiers in Blockchain.[15]
