Parachute (company)
Parachute a.k.a. Parachute Home is a U.S. based, e-commerce company that sells bedding, home decor and furniture.[1] In 2018, Business Insider wrote that Parachute is the most popular direct-to-consumer company that offers luxury bedding at affordable rates.[2] Parachute has been covered by Architectural Digest, the New York Times, Forbes and The New York Post and promoted in Business Insider, Curbed and Bravo TV.[3][4][5][6][7][8]
History[edit]
In 2014, now Parachute CEO Ariel Kaye left her job in advertising in Manhattan and moved to Los Angeles to launch the company.[4] [9][1] Inspired by the bedding she slept on during a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy, Kaye created Parachute to recreate that experience without being cost prohibitive or using synthetic materials in production.[10] After discovering that many bedding companies lie about thread count and whether sheets are organic, Kaye was even more motivated to launch Parachute.[11]
Health Benefits[edit]
In honor of National Sleep Awareness Month in 2018, CNN published an article on the health benefits of sleep, signaling Parachute as a featured company.[12]
Charitable Partnerships[edit]
Parachute is involved with charitable non-profit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, where every Parachute product that has been returned is donated.[13] Additionally, the company has partnered with the United Nations Foundation's Nothing but Nets campaign, which provides malaria-prevention bedding nets to communities that are vulnerable to the disease.[14]
