Parrots International

Parrots International is an international charity dedicated to parrot conservation, field research and companion parrot welfare. It has no paid staff and is only manned by volunteers. It was founded by a husband-wife team in 2005.[1]

Projects[edit]

The charity helps fund other organizations to support a number of conservation projects. The majority of Parrots International supported projects are in Central and South American and the Caribbean.[2] Examples of specific species of which projects were funded include the Spix's macaw,[3] Lear's macaw, Puerto Rican parrot,[4] hyacinth macaw, great green macaw, military macaw, blue-fronted amazon,[5] slender-billed conure,[6] Pfrimer's parakeet, Bahama parrot and the blue-throated macaw.

Annual parrot symposium[edit]

The Parrots International Symposium was an annual conference dedicated to parrot conservation, field research and companion parrot welfare. This event was held in May.[7]
