Parviz Kardan (Persian: پرویز کاردان‎; 1937 – June 10, 2021) was an Iranian artist, producer, director, play writer, actor, and a commentator who was famous in Iran in the 1970s, mostly because of directing TV series such as Sarkar Ostovar and Khaneh Bedoosh or Morad Barghi. He was a graduate of the School of Dramatic Arts and Television Directing in England. He started his artistic activity in 1959 by acting in TV shows and in 1961 he continued his activity by acting in stage theater. He experienced cinema in 1971 by directing and acting in Uncle Yadegar.[1][2][3]

Life[edit]

Parviz Kardan, in 1959 started his activity in Iranian television Channel 3 as a director and actor. His first work was "Sarkar Ostovar", one of the old and long comedy series of the National Iranian Television, which he wrote and directed many episodes of this series. Abdul Ali Homayoun played the role of Sarkar Ostovar. The Rural Gendarmerie in Iran, with its vigilant plans, which it called the "steadfast political politician," trapped criminals. "Sarkar Ostovar" film series (somewhat reminiscent of the American "Ernest" series). Lasting characters were created in this TV series, which later became the subject of many series and even movies. The most famous of these brigades were Samad with Parviz Sayad and Karamali Khan and Morad Barghi with his own game. After that, Kardan created the series Khaneh Behdoosh based on one of the characters of the Sarkar Ostovar series, namely "Murad Barghi".[4][5]

Parviz Kardan was born in Shiraz in 1937 and studied theater and dramatic arts in England.[6]

Death[edit]

Parviz Kardan died of a heart attack on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 84 in Los Angeles, California.[7][8]
