Passang Rinpoche

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Rinpoche made many trips and visited various places and regions to expound dharma for his disciples and for all sentient beings. Lots of the teachings of Passang Rinpoche focus on the practice and teachings of bodhicitta.

Bodhicitta has been deeply rooted in Rinpoche since his teenage years. One time, when Rinpoche was 17 years old, he happened to be outside the monastery and was playing. Suddenly, he saw a servant of a restaurant cutting chicken to serve his guests. With a tremendous shock, Rinpoche instantly felt the pain and suffering felt by the animal. Since then, Rinpoche vowed not to consume meat and chose to become a vegetarian for the rest of his life. Rinpoche vowed to withstand hunger to death rather than choose to kill sentient beings.

Birth

Passang Rinpoche was born in 1979 in the village of Gangtsar, in the area of Dao Kandze, Sichuan province in the morning at nine o'clock. At the time of his birth that morning, the sky was adorned with a rainbow of colorful and very beautiful clouds, and around his house was filled with floral fragrances. The birds did not want to miss it either, singing joyfully while singing a very beautiful song. The shape of his fetus looked like a dharma robe and his eyes were open.

Journey of Life

Shortly afterwards, Khandro Tare Lhamo, Makor Khandro and Dzogchen Yogi Acho Rinpoche, and several other great teachers recognized him as the reincarnation of Dzongchen Yogi Yeshe Tendzin Rinpoche.

At the age of 6, Rinpoche takes the precepts and promises of Upasaka. At the age of 8, he enters the Buddhist Institute of Five Five Discipline Buddhist Serge and picks up the monastic ordination of Neten Gador Rinpoche and elects Dharma King (Fak Wang) Khinchen Jigme Puntsok Rinpoche as his main teacher.

During his 16 years of studying at the institute, he studied tripitaka (suttas, vinaya and abhidharma). He experienced the 5 sutras (Madhyamaka, Prajna Paramita, Logic, Vinaya and abhidhamma), 4 classes in tantra (tantric craft, charya tantra, yoga tantra and anuttara yoga tantra), and the essence of Dzongchen teachings (great perfection). He also studied five fields of study: grammar, logic, engineering, medicine and Buddhism under the teachings of the Khenpo and other professors.

Since birth, Rinpoche has shown many extraordinary signs. Unlike other children, his efforts in learning, writing and memorizing only require very little effort, proved by the age of 13 when Rinpoche won a debate in which 400 other students from more senior monasteries participated. In 2003 he left the monastery he had lived in for 16 years to begin expounding dharma. He started with a visit to Nepal, India, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Indonesia.
