Pathé Distribution is a French film production company (as well as production and co-production) and distribution of films for the cinema. A subsidiary of Pathé, it was created in 1921 under the name Pathé Consortium Cinéma In 1921, then was called AMLF (Agence méditerranéenne de location de films) from 1972 to 1998, before taking its current name in 1999.
History[edit]
Pathé Consortium Cinéma[edit]
Pathé Distribution was founded in 1921 as Pathé Consortium Cinéma by Charles Pathé and Émile Pathé. the first film under Pathé Consortium Cinéma called The Sky of Battalion, released in 1947.
In 1972, Pathé Consortium Cinéma renamed to AMLF.
AMLF[edit]
In 1972, Pathé Consortium Cinéma renamed AMLF. In it's home country France, Pathé self-distributes its films. in the United Kingdom, WDSHE currently distributes Pathé's material on home video. Previously, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment distributed Pathé's material from the 1990s until 2020. For the theatrical release, Pathé formerly distributed their releases through Guild Film Distribution, renamed to Guild Pathé Cinema when the company purchased Guild in 1996.
Pathé Distribution[edit]
In 1998, AMLF renamed Pathé Distribution, then became the British branch of Pathé Distribution in 1999. In 2009, Warner Bros. began to distribute Pathé's material theatrically in the UK, until the rights were transferred over to 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios) in February 2011.[1] after The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019,[2] Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures took over distributing Pathé's material theatrically in the UK. On home video, their films are distributed by Fox Pathé Europa, a joint venture between Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Pathé and EuropaCorp. Pathé Distribution dismissed Fox Pathé Europa in 2020.
