Career
Riviere's performing career began at the age of ten when he was cast in the 1976 Bicentennial Roadshow in Western New York. He performed throughout High School and during his tenure at Niagara University starred in a variety of main-stage productions and at nearby Artpark where he starred as Che in Evita and was in the cast of the North American Premiere of I and Albert by Charles Strause. In 1988, he created the role of Saint Vincent de Paul in the World Premiere of Vincent in Heaven and would return to re-create the role at his Alma mater in 1990.[14] During his senior year, he also wrote his first play, I Found My Soul Today, Did You? which was produced as part of the NU One Act Festival in 1988. He then moved to New York City and began performing Off-Off Broadway until his professional debut in South Pacific at Candlewood Playhouse in 1991. He moved to Chicago in the early 90's with a theatre company he had co-founded, The Emerging Artists Project, Inc., where he created PIE (Projects In Education) Story Theatre. He would star in an original musical presented by the PIE troupe entitled Hans Clodhopper's Greatest Adventure.[15] PIE has seen troupes in New York City, Chicago,[16][17] Los Angeles[18] and most recently celebrated its Massachusetts Premiere.[19][20] PIE also recorded a Holiday Stories and Carols CD which Riviere produced and starred in.[21] While in Chicago, his first full-length play was given a World Premiere.[22] He moved back to New York City and began to pursue administrative work including Education Director for Second Stage Theatre. In 2001, he returned to his performing career and played Snoopy in the tribute production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. One reviewer compared his tour-de-force performance to Nathan Lane.[23] He also performed in the American Premiere of Welcome To Our City at The Mint Theatre[24][25] and starred in the short film based on Steven King’s A Very Tight Place.[26] He has also starred in a variety of plays and musicals in his career including Man of La Mancha[27][28][29] The Last Days of Judas Iscariot[30] and Family Dinner[31] and has starred in a variety of new works in development: Go, Go Beach, Marie Laveau Voodoo Legend, and The Beachcomber Boys.[32][33] directed by David Drake.
