Patrick Amofah is a Ghanaian watchmaker, horologist and entrepreneur. He is known for his work in watch repair, restoration and watch design, and for developing businesses in Ghana's watchmaking industry.[1][2]
Early life and education
Amofah grew up in Tema, Ghana. His interest in watches developed during his childhood. He has recalled receiving wristwatches from his mother as Christmas presents, including a Casio F-91W, which he identified as one of the watches that contributed to his early interest in timepieces.[1]
He attended Kalvary School Limited and Swedru Senior High School. He later studied Business Information Systems at Zenith University College.[3]
His father was a police detective and a collector of watches. After his father's death in 2017, Amofah attempted to restore some of the watches he had inherited. One of the watches was damaged during an attempted repair, an experience that contributed to his decision to learn more about watch movements and repair.[1][4]
Career
Amofah began learning about watch movements and repair through independent study and practical experience. In a 2022 interview with the Daily Graphic, he said he had studied the work of local watchmakers and was undertaking an online certification course in horology.[2]
In 2020, he began working in watch repair and restoration as a full-time business. The business initially operated through e-commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic, before moving toward physical operations after customers sought a location where they could deliver watches for servicing and restoration.[4][3]
Watch repair and restoration
Amofah's work has included the repair and restoration of mechanical and luxury watches. In March 2023, Citi Newsroom and Graphic Online reported that he had serviced a Richard Mille RM 011-03 McLaren timepiece. The watch was reported to have an estimated value of approximately US$600,000.[5][6]
The reported servicing of the Richard Mille became one of the more widely published accounts of Amofah's work as a watchmaker. The coverage focused on his technical work and the development of watch servicing in Ghana.[5][6]

Watch design
Amofah subsequently expanded his work from restoration and servicing into the design and production of watches. He founded Warrior King Watches, a watchmaking venture whose designs incorporate Ghanaian historical and cultural references.[1]
One of the documented designs associated with Amofah is the Warrior King Heritage, which features the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park monument on its dial. The model was reported to have been produced in a limited run of 100 pieces.[7]
In July 2023, Amofah presented a customised Warrior King timepiece to Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, during the Awukudae festival at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. Reports on the presentation described the watch as an 18-karat gold-plated timepiece incorporating symbols associated with the Asante Kingdom and Ghanaian history.[8]
In 2025, the Ghana News Agency reported that Amofah presented custom-made solid-gold timepieces to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Lady Julia Osei Tutu at Manhyia Palace.[9]

Public profile and recognition
In 2022, Daily Graphic profiled him in connection with his transition from business information systems to watchmaking and his efforts to develop watch repair and restoration services in Ghana.[2]
In 2023, GQ South Africa published an interview with Amofah focusing on his upbringing, his father's influence on his interest in watches, and his development as a watchmaker.[1]
His work was also profiled by Graphic Online following his servicing of the Richard Mille RM 011-03 McLaren watch.[6]
In January 2025, Graphic Online published an article on Amofah's approach to incorporating Ghanaian cultural symbols into watch design and described him as a Ghanaian horologist.[10]
Personal influences
Amofah has attributed much of his interest in horology to his parents. He has described his mother's habit of giving him watches as gifts during childhood and his father's interest in watches as formative influences. He has also described the attempt to restore his father's watches following his death as the event that led him to pursue watchmaking more seriously.[1][4]
Honors
- Amofa's Warrior King Watches received recognition for "Excellence in Ghana's First Luxury Watch Production" at the third International Manufacturing Conference and Awards.[11]
- Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Togo and Benin Simone Giger publicly described Amofah as one of Africa's finest watchmakers[12]
