ENNUI (Self Protrait) 1947
In 1947, Patrick Hart produced a self-portrait which he titled "ENNUI" (handwritten on the back of the portrait). The noun 'ennui', (pronounced /ɑːnˈwiː/ or /ɒnˈwiː/), [3] refers to a lack of spirit, lack of enthusiasm, or lack of interest, a feeling of listlessness, deep boredom, and general dissatisfaction caused by a lack of excitement, lack of interest, or lack of purpose.
