Dr. Paul A. Schlag was named the 10th Director[1] of Western Illinois University's (WIU) Centennial Honors College on August 2, 2019. Previously, he served as Western Illinois University's first Chief of Staff[2] under President Jack Thomas. He has also served as Assistant Department Chair and as Associate Director of the Centennial Honors College.

An award-winning professor[3],[4] Dr. Schlag is a full professor[5] and holds tenure in Western's Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia, an M.Ed. with Distinction in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia, an M.P.A. from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and a B.S. from Brigham Young University in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership.[6]

Schlag is the creator and webmaster of recreationinternships.com.
