Paul du Saillant (born in 1959) is a French corporate executive. He became chief executive officer of Essilor International in March 2020 and was named chairman and CEO in December 2020. At the same time he was appointed as Deputy CEO of EssilorLuxottica.
He is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale de Paris and was navigator for France 3 at the 1983 America's Cup.[1]

Background and education[edit]
Paul du Saillant was born on 18 February 1959, in Paris. He is the son of Guy de Lasteyrie du Saillant and Isabelle Giscard d’Estaing,[2] the sister of former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. He earned degrees from the Ecole Centrale de Paris[3] in 1982 and INSEAD Business School in 1986.
A sailing enthusiast, he was navigator for France 3 at the 1983 America's Cup.[1] He is also a music lover and co-organizer of the Festival de la Vézère, held in July and August of each year in Corrèze, in south-central France.[4]
Paul du Saillant is married and the father of four children.
Career[edit]
Before Essilor[edit]
Paul du Saillant began his career at Air Liquide in 1983. In 1997 he assumed responsibility for Air Liquide's industrial gas operations in France and Europe. In January 1999 he was named Group Senior Vice President.
He left his position at Air Liquide in 2002 to become chief operating officer at Belgium's Lhoist group, where he stayed until 2007.[5]
At Essilor[edit]
In 2008 Paul du Saillant joined Essilor as Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy.
In 2010 he was named Essilor Group's chief operating officer, with responsibilities covering a variety of functional areas (R&D, human resources, industrial activities, etc.) and geographical regions (Europe, Asia, Latin America).[6] In 2017 he was appointed as head of the Group's lens division.
In February 2019 he became Deputy CEO.[7]
On 30 March 2020, Paul du Saillant succeeded Laurent Vacherot at the helm of Essilor International as chief executive officer.[7]
In December 2020, Hubert Sagnières decided to retire and step down from his executive role at EssilorLuxottica.[8] The EssilorLuxottica board of directors then named Francesco Milleri as CEO and Paul du Saillant as Deputy CEO until the 2021 Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting.[8]
At the same time, Paul du Saillant was appointed as chairman and CEO[9] of Essilor International.[10]
