Pavel Stanchev
Pavel Stanchev (born August 26, 1966) is a French-Bulgarian international media market specialist who is currently the CEO of Hungary's market-leading channel family[1], TV2 Media Group and Slovenian Planet TV. He was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria and attended Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Later in 1992 Stanchev graduated[2] at Ecole Superieure de Journalisme (ESJ) in Paris.
During university years Stanchev worked as a journalist and consultant for the French media at L’Express, and later became Head of Development at Ringier AG in Switzerland until 1996. Working at Ringier AG he was also involved in the launch of a number of newspapers and magazines in both Europe and Asia. After four years Stanchev became Director of International Business Development and then Managing Director of HBO in Romania and Bulgaria.
Later on Pavel Stanchev was the CEO of RTL in Croatia, Nova Television in Bulgaria and also the CEO of Romanian Channel Kanal D. In 2010 Stanchev joined the Greek Antenna Group and became CEO of Antenna SE Europe and Slovenian Planet TV. Starting from 2014 he was CEO of bTV Media Group (CME) until 2016. At bTV Media Group (BMG) Stanchev has directed the launch of a number of successful shows, including Farm, MasterChef and The Voice Hungary.
In 2018 Stanchev was elected CEO of TF1 Distribution, a member of the French TF1 Group.
He joined the Hungarian TV2 Media Group as CEO in 2019, and as of 2020 he is also the CEO of the Slovenian Planet TV. Under his leadership he has directed the launch of a number of successful shows at TV2 such as Dancing with the Stars, Farm VIP and Look who it is? – Stage of mysteries. As a result, TV2 became the market-leading commercial television channel in Hungary. In 2020, the TV2 Media Group acquired Planet TV, the third largest Slovenian television company.
