Pearl Bay

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Pearl Bay is the fictional beach-side setting of the Australian television program SeaChange, which ran from 1998-2000.[1]

Pearl Bay is located somewhere on the south-eastern coast of Australia. It is a small town whose economy has apparently been going downhill since the bridge linking it to the larger town of Port Deakin was destroyed. This was in one of the many natural disasters that has hit Pearl Bay over the years, including a hurricane, a water spout, an earthquake, a freak lightning strike, a huge thunderstorm where fish were dropped from the sky, and many others; it is known for its extraordinary weather.

Pearl Bay has at least one pub, the Tropical Star Hotel, which is run by Meredith Monahan with help from Harold. Most characters usually visit the Tropical Star at least once a week, and it is the most popular place for impromptu town gatherings. Its menu is the typical pub fare, although delicacies were on offer whenever Diver Dan was working there. The other central meeting place of the town is the Court House, presided over by Laura Gibson with Angus as her clerk. Sometimes townspeople visit the court to watch the day's proceedings simply because they have nothing better to do.

Other notable locations in Pearl Bay include Bob Jelly Realty (workplace of Bob Jelly, and later on both Heather and Jules Jelly), the Jelly homestead (the most extravagant house in Pearl Bay, owned by the aforementioned Bob Jelly and his family) the caravan park (run by Kevin Findlay and his son Trevor), Phrani's shop, the police station (where Sergeant Graham Grey and Constable Karen Miller can usually be found), the Boatshed (first owned by Diver Dan, and later by Max, before it is pulled down at the beginning of the third season), Max's shack, and the Gibson household (home of Laura, Miranda, and Rupert). Pearl Bay does not have its own school, and most major shopping must be done in Port Deakin.

Its real life location is Barwon Heads, a coastal town in Victoria.
