Pedro Penim (born 5 July 1975, Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese theatre director. He is currently one of the artistic directors of the Portuguese theatre company Teatro Praga.[1][2]

Career

He is a creative director, actor and TV presenter[3]. His work has been presented in the most prestigious theaters and festivals all over the world and it extends to the areas of scriptwriting, lecturing[4] and teaching and has been presented throughout the Portuguese territory as well as in France[5][6][7], Italy, Brazil, United Kingdom, China, Germany, Spain, Slovakia, Turkey[8], Israel, Slovenia, Norway and Hungary. Recently, his play “Antes / Before” served as a script for the film “Past Perfect” by Jorge Jácome[9], integrated in the official selection of the 69th Berlin International Film Festival[10] and nominated in the category of Best Short Film in the 33rd European Film Awards[11] Outside Teatro Praga he worked with the British company Forced Entertainment (Quizoola!, 2014)[12], the Belgian company tg STAN (Point Blank, 1998), Ant Hampton and Tim Etchells (The Quiet Volume, 2012), Nassim Suleimanpour (White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, 2019) and Massimo Furlan / Claire de Ribaupierre (Concours Européen de la chanson philosophique, 2020). He is the recipient of several awards including a Portuguese Golden Globe for play of the year.[13] He was the Press conference moderator and Red Carpet presenter at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018[14] [15]and actor and writer of the interval act sketch "53 Long Years" in the Grand Final.

Personal Life

He is married to the British BBC journalist Mark Lowen.
