Penny Reel
Penny Reel, born Peter Simons (1948 – August 2018), is a British music journalist and scholar[1], and one of the UK's reggae foundation writers.[2] His interviews and articles in publications like Echoes, NME, Sounds and Small Axe exposed readers to the genre at a time when the punk-music press had almost exclusively white content.[3] He also produced the fanzine 'Pressure Drop' (1975) with Nick Kimberley[4] and is the author of Deep Down with Dennis Brown: Cool Runnings and the Crown Prince of Reggae (2000), exploring the reggae scene of the 1970s and a profile of the musician Dennis Brown.
