Penny and Sparrow are an American band comprised of guitarist and vocalist Kyle Jahnke and vocalist Andy Baxter originating in 2011 from Austin, Texas. Meeting at the University of Texas Austin, Jahnke and Baxter became roommates, soon after friends, soon after music partners, before ultimately becoming lovers. Beginning with their 2013 album "Tenboom" the pair have gone on to release a total of 9 albums, including their most recent release on January 21st, 2022 entitled "Olly Olly".[1]
Origins
The duo began as roommates at the University of Texas, Austin, where they shared their love of music. The two began singing together which developed into a songwriting partnership. Their first release was a single entitled "Creature", which was recorded independently behind an orphanage. While the single was commercially unsuccessful it would become emblematic of the sound they have become known for. The name "Penny and Sparrow" was taken from a mutual friend who has a blog by the same name.[2]

Personal Lives
Both Baxter and Jahnke are married. Baxter is married to self-professed: home renovator, interior decorator, yoga instructor Sarah.[3] Jahnke is married to his wife Becca.[4] Neither Baxter nor Jahnke has children, however, both have a dog.
