James Magner, better known by his in-game name Penscythe, is an American professional video game player.

Early in his carrier, Penscythe established himself within Z1 Battle Royale as an competitive player and as the owner of Ice Sanctuary (Presently known as Seraph eSports). After Z1 Battle Royale saw the large decrease in players and lobbies were no longer filled Penscythe moved his interests elsewhere.[1] With the creation of a Steam Curator page and began reviewing a variety of games as well as continuing to compete within leaderboards of various games such as Gears 5, Teppen, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Deathverse: Let it Die. Penscythe saw success is both of these aspects with a quick increase in followers on the Curator page as well as being referenced in articles and forums[2][3] about upcoming games that Penscythe was granted Closed beta access too. In the process of reviewing the different games Penscythe acquired high level placements in over 30 video games including Rank 7 globally in Escalation during a Gears 5 season[4] along with a seasonal top 500 placement in North America for PUBG: Battlegrounds.[5]
