Penta Security Systems Inc. (Korean: 펜타시큐리티시스템㈜)[1] is an information technology (IT) security firm headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. [2][3]Penta Security offers web application security[4], database security[5][6][7][8], and single sign-on solutions. Most recently, Penta Security has revealed plans to develop and implement a blockchain-based[9] data market for automobile data and digital asset management[10].
Along with Imperva and F5 Networks, Penta Security’s web application firewall WAPPLES is recognized by Frost & Sullivan as one of the key players in the market. [11][12][13]

Founded in 1997 by Seokwoo Lee[14][15], and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Penta Security Systems Inc. is a provider of web application security products and core technology, with customers in government, large enterprise, small and medium business[9][10][16], education, and finance[17] and medical institutions.
Subsidiaries and International Expansion[edit]
The Japanese branch office was initially set up in 2006[18], while the subsidiary, Penta Security Systems K.K., was incorporated later in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan in 2009. Penta Security Systems Corporation was later established in Texas, United States, in 2014. The three branches (Penta Security Systems, Inc., Penta Security Systems K.K and Penta Security Co.) are focused on providing IT security needs and requirements of South Korea to CIS, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, Ukraine, and United States. Penta Security joined the International Transport Forum's Corporate Partnership Board in 2019[19] to work on projects ranging from shared mobility to the decarbonization of transport with the ITF.[20]
Security R&D Center[edit]
Penta Security has a research and development center so that researchers can conduct independent technology studies for the company[14]. The R&D center has over 130 research specialists, a large portion of its complete workforce. Penta Security also fosters potential future information security officers by hiring employees from vocational high schools and university collaboration programs for its R&D center.[21]
