Pentakill
Pentakill is a virtual metal band, created in the League of Legends Universe by and labeled under Riot Games. They currently have 2 studio albums, Smite & Ignite, which consists of 8 songs, and II: Grasp of the Undying, an album with 10 songs. The group consists of 6 playable characters.
Origin[edit]
The band was firstly thought of by the fans, consisting of theories, engagement and buzz. Riot wanted to give something back to the fans, so they started to write, record and produce their first heavy metal album ever. Riot made the lineup of the band consist of playable characters lead vocalist Karthus, lead guitarist Mordekaiser, bassist Yorick, keyanist Sona and drummer Olaf. The whole album, Smite & Ignite, released in 2014, was written and composed by Riot. They hired famous studio artists such as Jørn Lande and ZP Theart to sing the vocals for some of the songs. Each of these characters got a skin in the game, all named after the band.
The first album was popular, so Riot decided to make a second album, II: Grasp of the Undying, released in 2017. This album added the character vocalist Kayle to the lineup.[1]. Kayle also got an in-game skin due to her addition to the lineup.
Confirmed by Riot is that in 2020, 3 years after the latest album, a completely new album will get released. The name and release date are unknown.
Members[2][edit]
Vocalists Karthus, a lich, and Kayle. Karthus' voice in the songs "Lightbringer", "Thornmail", "The Bloodthirster", "Cull", "Mortal Reminder", "Dead Man's Plate" and "Frozen Heart" is done by Jørn Lande. In "Deathfire Grasp" and "Last Whisper", his voice is done by ZP Theart, current lead vocalist for Skid Row and old vocalist of DragonForce. Kayle's voice is, so far, only heard in "Tear of the Goddess". She lends her voice from Noora Louhimo, lead vocalist of Battle Beast (band).
Lead guitarist Mordekaiser, also known as The Lord of the Dead. The guitar is done by multiple musicians under the names of Christian "Praeco" Linke and Jason "chupacobbler" Willey.
Bassist Yorick, known as the Sheperd of the Dead. His music is done by Eugene "kyugene" Kang.
Keyanist Sona. Audiolized by Derek Sherinian.
Drummer Olaf's music is done by Gregg Bissonette and Mike Pitman.
